State quota counseling has been canceled on PG seats in medical colleges. Allot seats in Srinagar and private medical colleges have also been canceled with the allocation for 26 seats in Haldwani State Medical College. Now these seats will be re-counseled. Director of Medical Education has confirmed this. There is ongoing controversy regarding the counseling of PG seats in medical colleges. According to the rules, after locking the seat in All India quota the students can not apply for the state quota. But in some states of the country, many students locked their seats found in All India quota, but did not enroll. After this, the colleges allotted the seat by adding them to the council of state quotas. After this the matter went to the Supreme Court. Ashutosh Syanya, Director of Medical Education, has ordered the cancellation of state quota counseling and renewal on Thursday evening. In Uttarakhand, the state quota counseling will now be reheld. This will also be done online. Students in Haldwani were alloted 26 seats while Medical College, Haldwani had 35 seats for counseling under state quota. There were four seats in Srinagar Medical College, but there was no student interested in there. Private medical colleges will also have to do fresh counseling.
