Women officer shot dead in broad daylight in Kasauli

On Tuesday, the owner of a guest house shot three bullets on the administrative team which had gone on an anti-encroachment drive to 13 illegal hotels in Kasauli in Himachal Pradesh’s District Solan on Tuesday afternoon. Two bullets hit the female officer who died on the spot. While a PWD employee was injured.
He has been referred to PGI Chandigarh in serious condition. The teams of four and one nodal officers of police and administration reached for action in the presence of SDM. The officer of the TCP who was shot was a coordinator of the team. Despite being a heavy police force, the accused escaped from the spot after the incident.

The police filed a murder case and sent the accused the police team to track the accused. There is an atmosphere of tension in the area since the incident, but there is a panic in the staff. However, the operation to dismantle the illegal contruction continued throughout the day. The hotel owners themselves also demolished illegal construction.
According to the police, on Tuesday morning, at 9:30 AM 4 teams with a total of 38 members left Dharmpur to Kasauli to demolish 13 illegal hotel constructions. After taking action on other hotels, the team led by Assistant Town Planning Officer Shail Wala reached the Naraini Guest House at Modhodhodar as soon as 2.30 pm, its director Vijay Thakur started making a ruckus.

After a heated discussion with the lady officer, Vijay took out his licensed revolver and shot three bullets. Vijay Thakur, an accused in the firing of a woman officer, is employed in the Electricity Board. He is posted as a PA to Director (civil) at the board headquarters, Kumar House and is on a three-week holiday. Board officials said that from 23rd April to 11th May, Vijay Thakur has taken a three-week leave.
One bullet hit the woman’s chest and the second hit her jaw. She died on the spot. The third bullet hit a PWD employe. After the incident, the chaos ensued and the accused fled after seeing the opportunity. SP Solan Mohit Chawla said that the matter is under investigation.

ODeputy Commissioner Vinod Kumar said that security of teams will be increased. Whatever legal action will be possible, it will be implemented.
