IPL 2023: CSK win title for the 5th time

Chennai Super Kings, the team captained by superstar Mahendra Singh Dhoni, achieved the distinction of becoming IPL champion for the 5th time late on Monday night. They defeated defending champion Gujarat Titans by 5 wickets in the rain interrupted final match on Monday. In this title match played at the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad, Chennai got a revised target of 171 runs in 15 overs, which was achieved on the last ball itself.

Gujarat Titans scored 214 runs for 4 wickets in 20 overs at their home ground. When Chennai’s batting started, it started raining heavily. Later Chennai got a revised target of 171 runs in 15 overs to win. With 10 runs needed off the last 2 balls, Ravindra Jadeja hit a six off the 5th ball and the winning four off the last ball to give Chennai fans a chance to celebrate. Jadeja returned unbeaten after scoring 15 runs in 6 balls. Shivam Dubey scored an unbeaten 32 off 21 balls with the help of 2 sixes. Pacer Mohit Sharma of Gujarat took 3 wickets while Noor Ahmed took 2 wickets.

Dhoni shares  update on retirement

Dhoni answered all the questions related to retirement after leading his team to another title. He said that he will not retire at the moment. Dhoni also replied about his return in the next season.

MS Dhoni dismissed speculations of retirement. He said that seeing the love of the audience, he will play again in the next season to give them a gift. From the beginning of this season, there was speculation that this would be Dhoni’s last season. He said, “If we look at the circumstances, it is the right time for me to retire. It is very easy for me to say that I am leaving now, but it is difficult to return after working hard for the next nine months and play one more season.”

He said, “The body has to cooperate. The way the Chennai fans have showered me with love, it will be my gift to them that I play one more season. The love and passion they have shown, I should also do something for them.”
