Nainital lower mall road repaired; to be open for light traffic from Sep 20

The section of Lower Mall Road in Nainital which had submerged into the lake on August 18 has been repaired. Public Works Department on Monday tried a trial of the the road by passing four wheelers. Nanda Sunanda Doli, will now be able to leave through this route September 19. Starting from September 20, light vehicles will begin movement on the lower mall road.
After the repair, the Public Works Department sent four wheelers on the road from Mall Road. Officials said that the road is now ready. However, traffic on this is not being started immediately.

First of all, on September 19, Nanda Sunanda’s Yatra will pass through this route. After this, traffic will start on September 20. Initially light vehicles will be carried out on the road so that the road is not susceptible to damage.
Executive Engineer CS Negi told that work has been completed with the money received in the first installment. “Our offer was of Rs. 58 lakhs, but we got only about 23 lakh rupees” said Negi.
