UGC writes to colleges and universities, asks to complete admission process by 30 September

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has issued guidelines on examinations and academic calendar to all universities and colleges in view of COVID-19. It has been said in the guidelines that in the first year courses of the academic session 2021-22, the enrollment process should be completed before 30 September and the academic session should be started from 1 October.

The UGC has said that in view of the order of the Supreme Court, new guidelines have been issued. It has been said in the guidelines that the guidelines issued earlier will be applicable for the 2020-21 session. Under this, the final year / terminal semester examinations will have to be compulsorily completed by 31 August 2021. The commission has said that under the Covid protocol, such examinations should be conducted in offline or online mode.

Like the guidelines of 2020 for the middle semester or year, the UGC has also said in the new guidelines to give marks on the basis of internal assessment only.

It has been said in the guidelines that in the light of the order of the Supreme Court, enrollment in the first year of graduation in the academic session 2021-22 should be started only after the declaration of the results of CBSE, ICSE and State Board 12th examinations. The UGC has said that such enrollments should be completed by 30 September and classes should be started from 1 October.

The commission has also given instructions to fill the vacant seats by 31 October. According to the commission, supporting documents from students will be accepted till December 31.
