Singapore shuts down schools as precautionary measure against Corona

The government has announced the closure of schools in the wake of increasing fears of the corona virus case in Singapore. Singapore had warned about this a day earlier and said that the B.1.167 variant of corona virus, first found in India, can have a bad effect on children. Therefore, the government has formulated a plan to provide vaccine to the youth at the same time with the closure of schools.

The government has decided to make all primary, junior and secondary schools fully home based learning till May 28. Singapore’s Education Minister Chan Chun Sing says that rapidly exposed variants of the virus can prove harmful to children and they can attack these children. However, no such case has been reported through schools in which any student has become seriously ill.

According to the government, there were 38 cases of corona virus infection at the local level on Sunday. This is the first time since September that so many cases have come up in a single day. In most of these cases, the children have become victims of this virus. A tuition center is believed to be the hotspot for this spread. The Singapore health ministry has said that so far it has not been clear how many more children have come in contact with this new variant.
