Ranji Finals 2024: Mumbai became champion for the 42nd time, defeated Vidarbha in the final
The final match of Ranji Trophy 2024 was played between Vidarbha and Mumbai. Under the captaincy of Ajinkya Rahane, Mumbai registered a spectacular victory in this match by 169 runs. Vidarbha needed 538 runs to win the final. While chasing, Vidarbha team was all out for 368 runs. Captain Akshay Wadkar played scored a century for Vidarbha. Whereas, Harsh Dubey had scored 65 runs. But they could not make the team win. Mumbai won the Ranji Trophy final for the 42nd time.
Vidarbha’s batting was a bit disappointing in this match. Vidarbha was all out for 105 runs in the first innings. Mumbai had set a target of 538 runs for Vidarbha after scoring 418 runs in the second innings. Which the team could not chase. While opening the second inning for Mumbai, Prithvi Shaw scored 11 runs in 18 balls. Whereas, Bhupen Lalwani had played an innings of 18 runs in 38 balls. Musheer Khan had scored a century inning of 136 runs. Ajinkya Rahane and Shreyas Iyer scored 73 and 95 runs respectively. In this way Mumbai scored 418 runs in the second innings.
Mumbai set a target of 538 runs for Vidarbha. For Vidarbha, only Akshay Wadkar, Karun Nair and Harsh Dubey scored runs in the second innings. Atharva Taide and Dhruv Shorey, who came to open, were out after scoring 32 and 28 runs respectively. Aman Mokhde, who came third, scored 32 runs in 78 balls. Karun Nair also played a good inning of 74 runs. Tanush Kotian took 4 wickets while bowling brilliantly for Mumbai.
