Yellow alert of cold wave in Delhi, today was the coldest morning of the season

Monday morning was the coldest of the season in Delhi amidst continuous cold wave. The minimum temperature was recorded at 1.4 degrees Celsius, six notches below normal. This is not only this season but after January 1, 2021 i.e. the lowest minimum temperature of this month in two years.

Lodhi Road recorded a minimum temperature of 1.6 degrees Celsius, The Ridge two degrees and Jaffarpur 2.2 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature in the national capital has dropped by almost nine degrees in just two days. It was 10.2 degree Celsius on Saturday and 4.7 degree Celsius on Sunday.

Earlier, on January 1, 2021, the minimum temperature was recorded at 1.1 degree Celsius. On January 8 this year, it was recorded 1.9 degree Celsius. On the other hand, Delhi’s maximum temperature on Monday was recorded at 18.7 degree Celsius, one degree below normal. The humidity level in the air was 39 to 90 percent.

The Meteorological Department has also issued a yellow alert for the next six days in Delhi. Two days for severe level cold wave while four days for dense fog.
