Sonia Gandhi asks for Home minister Amit Shah’s resignation over Delhi violence

Congress Working Committee meeting on Delhi violence was held today. Congress’s interim president Sonia Gandhi, General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh were present in the meeting. The meeting paid tribute to those who died during the violence.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, Sonia Gandhi said that “the current situation in Delhi is worrisome. Things deteriorated under a conspiracy. BJP leaders gave provocative speeches, Disseminated hatred during elections. The central government and Home Minister Amit Shah are responsible for the situation in Delhi. The Home Minister should resign.”

Sonia Gandhi asked questions

Interim President of Congress Sonia Gandhi asked where were the Home Ministers on Sunday and what were they doing? How many police forces were deployed in places of violence? Why was the army not deployed despite the worsening situation? What was Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal doing?

Chidambaram targeted the police

Prior to the meeting, Congress leader and former Home Minister P. Chidambaram targeted the Delhi Police. Chidambaram said in his tweet that whether it is Home Minister or Home Ministry, it is the duty of the government to stop the violence. Violence continues since Monday and incidents of violence are still happening. This shows the huge failure of Delhi Police.

Tension persists, 20 deaths so far

For the time being, tensions persist due to violence in North East Delhi. The death toll in the violence has reached 20, while around 200 people are said to be injured. Justice S.K. in Delhi High Court for protection and better treatment of the injured in violence. Hearing took place at midnight at Muralidhar’s house. The court directed the Delhi Police to shift the ambulance from a hospital in Mustafabad to a safe path and patients to a government hospital.

Center fielded Ajit Doval

This matter will be heard again in Delhi High Court at 2.15 pm today. When asked to submit a status report to the police, the Central Government has fielded National Security Advisor NSA Ajit Doval. Doval visited the violence-hit areas of North East Delhi late at night. Doval reached Seelampur in North East Delhi with police officers and took stock of the situation.

Three border areas next to Delhi sealed


In view of Delhi violence, 3 borders areas coming to Ghaziabad from North East Delhi have been sealed. Also, the security system has been strengthened in the areas of western UP, especially in districts like Noida, Ghaziabad, Hapur, Aligarh, Muzaffarnagar, Sambhal. Meanwhile, in the late evening, CBSE has postponed the examination of class X and XII to be held today in a total of 86 schools in North East and East Delhi. Schools will also be closed today in violence affected areas.

Leaders meeting the injured

So far 200 people including 56 policemen have been injured in Delhi violence. After this, all the leaders went to the hospital to meet the injured and know their condition. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal, Delhi BJP President Manoj Tiwari and Union Minister Dr. Harshvardhan went to the hospital and met the injured.
