Top seeds advance to round 3 in French Open

Greece’s young tennis player Stephano Tsitsipas has made it to the third round of the men’s singles category of the second Grand Slam tournament of the year- the French Open. In the women’s section, America’s Sloane Stephens and Spain’s Garbine Muguruza have also entered the third round.

Tsitsipas defeated Bolivia’s Hugo Dellien 4-6, 6-0, 6-3, 7-5 in the second round match played at Simone-Matthew Court. World number 3 Roger Federer also made quick work of Oscar Otte in his second round encounter winning 6-4,6-3,6-4. 12 time French Open champion Rafael Nadal steamrolled past German Yannick Maden 6-1,6-2,6-4 to make it to the third round.

In his match, the sixth seed Greek player scored five aces while his opponent could not even make a single ace. Meanwhile, former winner Muguruza beat Johanna Larsen of Sweden 6-4, 6-1. The Spanish player took one hour and four minutes to win this match.

Sloane Stephens defeated Spain’s Sara Sorribes Tormo 6-1, 7-6 (7-3). This match lasted one hour and 26 minutes.

Argentina’s Guido Pella has lost in the men’s singles category. World number-23 Argentinian player was defeated by world number -110 Corentin Moutet 6-3, 6-1, 2-6, 7-5 in a match that lasted two hours and 31 minutes.
