BCCI gives injury update on Shikhar Dhawan

Indian cricket team opener Shikhar Dhawan will be kept under surveillance right now. Dhawan’s thumb was injured while playing against Australia on Sunday in the World Cup 2019. According to the BCCI’s latest update, Dhawan has a fracture in his thumb and due to this, he can be away from the ground for three weeks. It is feared that he will not be able to play in next two matches with New Zealand and Pakistan.

After the news of fracture in the thumb of Shikhar Dhawan, veterans were giving their opinions about Rishabh Pant, Ambati Rayudu and Shreyas Iyer replacing the opener. However, there was no official statement issued on behalf of the BCCI regarding the replacement.

According to the ICC rules for the World Cup, the injured player can be changed, but if he gets complete fitness then he can not be re-associated with the team. In such a situation, the team management does not want to take any decision in the haste

The BCCI has made a tweet while updating Shikhar Dhawan’s injury. It wrote while tweeting: “Team India opening batsman Mr Shikhar Dhawan is presently under the observation of the BCCI medical team. The team management has decided that Mr Dhawan will continue to be in England and his progress will be monitored.”

Shikhar Dhawan had scored a magnificent 117 in the World Cup match with Australia and was ‘Man of the Match’ for that knock. India won that match by 36 runs.

During batting in the same match, a delivery by Australian bowler Nathan Coulternile had hit on the thumb of Dhawan. After his innings, Dhawan was sitting in the dressing room and kept an ice pack on the injured thumb. He was unable to field. Ravindra Jadeja had fielding for Dhawan.
