Shikhar Dhawan ruled out of ICC World Cup 2019

When the Indian ODI team was announced for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 World Cup 2019, Rishabh Pant did not get the chance in this team. Instead of Rishabh, Indian selectors had given a chance to veteran Dinesh Karthik in the 15-member squad. The selectors said that the decision was taken while giving priority to Dinesh Karthik’s experience. There was a lot of controversy when there was no selection of Rishabh in the team. Many former cricketers had said that Rishabh should have been included in the team and the decision of the selectors was very resentful. In total, there was a lot of controversy in the name of Rishabh.

At that time the selectors had included Rishabh as a standby player in the team so that if there is an injury, then he can be given a chance. As luck would have it, Shikhar Dhawan, is injured. After his injury, the team’s selectors sent Pant without delay, as the cover for Dhawan. He was there with the team, but were not officially part of the team. He was practicing with the team but was not part of the dressing room, because according to the ICC rules, part of the dressing room can be the only player whose name is in the team.

After Dhawan’s injury, the team management was also waiting for him to recover, but it could not happen and finally Rishabh was included in the team. BCCI has announced to be out of Dhawan and it has been told that they will request the ICC to allow Rishabh to make him part of the team.

Rishabh Pant is in great form these days. In the recently concluded IPL 12, he showed good batting form for his team Delhi and scored 488 runs in 16 matches this season. Apart from this, he also took 18 catches and 6 stumpings. He also had three half-centuries in this season. Rishabh has played just five ODIs for India, in which he scored 93 runs at an average of 23.25. His best score in ODIs is 93 runs. He has played nine Test matches for Team India so far.

Rishabh Pant has the experience of playing in England and last year he also made a century during the Test series against England. If Pant joins Team India’s playing eleven, he can bat at number four. Rishabh is an aggressive batsman and this can strengthen the Indian middle order. At the same time there will be two big hitters like Rishabh and Hardik in the middle for the team, which can make the runs faster.
