WhatsApp to sue users for violating terms

WhatsApp has done a lot of work to curb Fake News and misinformation in recent days. Some new features have also been brought to prevent spam. Now the company is preparing to take action against those people who are using this app wrongly.

In a post posted in WhatsApp it said that, ” WhatsApp will take legal action against those people who are doing wrong things in violation of our Terms and Services or are helping someone do the wrong thing. These include automated messages, bulk messages or non-personal use.”

From this post of WhatsApp, it is clear that the company is taking the matter seriously. There are 1.5 billion users worldwide in WhatsApp. Recently, the company has talked about identifying many spam accounts through artificial intelligence and machine learning.

A spokeswoman for WhatsApp said to TechCrunch, “WhatsApp was designed for private messaging, so we have taken steps to stop bulk messages across the world and have limited wrong usage of WhatsApp account. We have also increased the ability to recognize Abuse, which is helping 2 billion accounts worldwide every month.”

It is worth noting that Abuse, misinformation and Fake News have been growing fast on WhatsApp last year. Since India has the largest number of WhatsApp users, the biggest impact of all of this is in India. The Indian government had requested WhatsApp to develop an originating tracking tool or rumor-propagandist’s device, but WhatsApp has denied it.

The company’s argument behind the denial of WhatsApp is that the platform uses end to and encryption and doing so will lose the identity of WhatsApp.
