5 nuclear scientists dead as test goes wrong in Russia

Five nuclear scientists were killed in a blast during a test of equipment at a military base in Russia’s far northern region. There is also news of nuclear radiation spreading from the scene after the blast. The Ministry of Defense issued a statement giving this information.
The ministry said that six Defense Ministry personnel and developers were injured in the incident, while five experts were killed. Radiation levels are normal at military bases.

A spokeswoman for the Arkhangelsk region told AFP that measures were being taken to stop the radiation. This is the second time such incident within a week. Earlier, a fire broke out at an OD in Siberia on Monday.
