Lord Krishna temple in Lalitpur, re-opens 3 years after Nepal earthquake

Three years after the horrific earthquake in Nepal in 2015, the famous temple of Lord Krishna was reopened for the first time on Sunday. This temple is built in the Indian Pinnacle style. On April 25, 2015, an earthquake of 7.8 magnitude occurred in Nepal, in which 8,700 people were killed and cultural heritage sites and houses spread over the valley had suffered substantial damage. Thousands of pilgrims gathered in the 17th century temple of Lord Krishna located in the Lalitpur Municipal Body of Kathmandu on Sunday on the occasion of Janmashtami.

Artistic temple built by Siddhi Narasigh Mall in Lalitpur was partially damaged in the earthquake. The work of repairing a temple made of stone was completed recently. It was beautifully decorated with colorful flags, banners and lights. This temple is three-storey high.

On the first floor of the temple, incidents related to the epic Mahabharata have been engraved on the stones, whereas the second floor has engraved scenes associated with the Ramayana. The Krishna Temple has been built in the Indian Shikhar style. Regarding this temple, it is said that one night, that the king saw Krishna and Radha in the dream who instructed him to build a temple in front of his palace. A replica of it was made by King in the premises inside the palace.
