Uttarakhand ITI’s to get Rs 2 crore each grant from World Bank

The World Bank will give a grant of two crore rupees to each of the five industrial training institutes (ITIs) of the state. So that more and more youths of the state can get employment. These five ITIs have been selected out of 88 for the Skill Strengthening for Industrial Value Enhancement (STRIVE) scheme. Under the scheme, these ITIs will be renovated and upgraded.

This will be the first time when the target of training program in industries outside the institute of trades in ITI of the state will be set for the year. On completion of this, the second installment of the grant will be released to that ITI. All five ITIs will receive grants directly from the World Bank.

The ITI will have to report the full details of the utilization of the grant to the World Bank. These ITIs will have to include training, industrial excursions, new trades that are in demand, employment tests, etc., especially in accordance with the demand of industrial areas.

The scheme aims to make the youth fully skilled in technical trades before employing them in industrial units under the central government’s skill development scheme. ITI Director (Controller of Examinations) GM Negi confirmed the plan.
