Vijay Hazare Trophy 2019: Uttarakhand thrash Sikkim by 253 runs

Uttarakhand defeated Sikkim by a huge margin of 253 runs in their 8th match of the ongoing Vijay Hazare trophy. Batting first the home team made 305 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in their allotted 50 overs. In reply the Sikkim team was bundled out for a meager 52 runs. Such was the disappointing reply by the visitors that only their two batsmen were able to cross the double digit mark.

Openers lay solid foundation for Uttarakhand

Team Uttarakhand were once again given a strong platform by their opening pair of Karanveer Kaushal and skipper Unmukt Chand. Both openers scored half centuries before their opening stand was broken with the score at 120 runs.Tanmay Srivastava and Avneesh Sudha too scored half centuries before fire works from Saurabh Rawat and Sunny Rana at the back end of the innings pushed the team’s score past the 300 run mark.

Disastrous start for Sikkim

In reply Sikkim had an opposite start to that of Uttarakhand. They lost wickets from the second over itself. Half the team was back in the pavillion with the score on 20 runs. Sunny Rana was the pick of the bowlers for Uttarakhand claiming 5 wickets in 9 overs. Ashish Thapa was the top scorer for Sikkim with 16 runs.

With this win Team Uttarakhand bagged 4 crucial points to go to the top of the table in Plate Group of Vijay Hazare Trophy. Currently it is a neck in neck fight for the top spot between Uttarakhand and Pondicherry.
