Vodafone-Idea to increase tariff plans from Dec 1

Vodafone-Idea and Airtel will increase the mobile tariff from December 1. On Monday, Vodafone-Idea said, “Vodafone-Idea will raise its tariffs appropriately to provide consumers with a world-class digital experience. This change will come into effect from December 1. ”While Airtel said it is its priority to provide affordable tariffs to customers, but it is also necessary to balance with financial needs, so that investment in digital infrastructure can be continued. In this way consumers will get better quality of service.

Idea-Vodafone claimed that mobile data in India is the cheapest in the world and its demand in the market remains constant. The company currently provides mobile service for Rs 24 for a month without data, while with data one has to pay a minimum of Rs 33. The company said that by March 2020, network coverage and capacity is being increased to provide 4G service across the country. The company also says that it has the largest spectrum area in the country and the entire resources are being used through network integration.

Vodafone-Idea had a big loss in the last quarter

Vodafone-Idea declared a gross loss of Rs 50,921 last week. This was the largest loss to any business house in the second quarter ended in September, following the Supreme Court’s adjusted total revenue order. The Supreme Court last month gave a ruling in favor of the government, directing all telecom companies including Vodafone-Idea to pay dues to the Department of Telecommunications.

Mobile data and call tariffs fall in the country

According to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), there has been a sharp 95% drop in mobile data rates in the country between June 2016 to December 2017. Mobile data is now available at an average price of Rs 11.78 per gigabyte (GB). Mobile call rates have also fallen by 60% to around 19 paise per minute.
