Schools to remain closed after rain, snow alert

Most of the districts in Uttarakhand, including Dehradun, were under cloud cover on Thursday. At the same time, snowfall started on the hill areas. Light drizzle occurred at some places, due to which it is now very cold in Uttarakhand. Here Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri and Yamunotri have been experiencing snow since morning. Due to this, traffic is also getting affected.

Apart from this, local people have been asked to be vigilant. On the other hand, the administration of Dehradun, Rudraprayag, Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Tehri and Pithoragarh have issued orders to close all private and government schools on Friday.

According to the Meteorological Department, one to two rounds of rain are expected in most areas of the state today. This will increase the coolness in the weather. On Thursday and Friday, there may be heavy snowfall in most areas of the state.

Chardham, including Kedarnath, received snowfall, while the plains received intermittent rain. The Meteorological Department as well as the administration has issued an Orange alert in view of the winter. Due to this, the District Magistrate of many districts including Uttarkashi has declared a holiday in all government and private schools, Anganwadi centers on Friday.

Heavy snowfall in Kedarnath, weather turns cold

Kedarnath received heavy snowfall on Thursday, while all the high altitude areas of the district also received snowfall, while the rain in the low-lying areas continued throughout the day. Due to which the outbreak of cold has increased throughout the district. Snowfall started in Kedarnath from 5 am, which continued intermittently throughout the day. More than two feet of fresh snow has frozen in the dham. The minimum temperature in Kedarnath has reached minus 12 degrees. At the same time, reconstruction works have also been badly affected. On the other hand, Chopta, Dugalbitta, Tungnath, Madamaheshwar also experienced snowfall. Outbreak of cold has also increased here. On the other hand, the rains continued throughout the day in the valley areas. Due to which cold feeling was felt.

Badrinath highway closed ahead of Hanuman Chatti due to snowfall

Snowfall at the world famous tourist destination and snowskiing center Auli has brightened the tourists’ faces. Auli has recieved more than two feet of snow since nightfall. The Badrinath highway is closed from Hanuman Chatti to Badrinath due to snowfall. Due to this, the movement of army vehicles is at a standstill. The Joshimath Auli motorway is also closed near the Kavan bend, two km before Auli. However, the movement of tourists is going on continuously due to theh ropeway. Due to this, there is a gathering of tourists in Auli. Tourists are enjoying the snowfall in Auli.
