Tata to launch Electric variant of Nexon in 2020

The fully electric SUV of Tata Motors has been waiting for a long time and now the Tata Nexon EV has been introduced in India. It is not the first electric car from Tata Motors, but it will be the first new-generation electric car after the Tata Tigor EV that has been introduced with the new ZipTron electric powertrain technology. The Tata Nexon EV will be launched in 2020 but the company has already started pre-bookings for the electric SUV. The company is going to start pre-bookings starting tomorrow with a token amount of Rs 21,000 at select dealerships. Tata will reveal the price of the new SUV at time of launch but experts believe it can be priced between Rs 15-17 lakh.

The Tata Nexon EV is equipped with a permanent magnet AC motor equipped with a lithium-ion battery pack and is liquid-cooled as well as I67 certified. This 30.2 kva battery can run up to 300 km in a single charge and this battery provides 245 Nm peak torque to the SUV. It takes only 9.9 seconds to reach a speed of 0-100 km. The battery can be charged 80 percent in 60 minutes with the help of fast charger, while on normal charger, this battery will take 8 hours to full charge. Tata Nexon EV is equipped with dedicated cooling circuit to provide better performance in every type of temperature.

In appearance, Tata Motors has made the new Nexon EV almost identical with LED DRLs with the same humanity line grille, sharp headlamps and projector lights. The car has a 7.0-inch part digital instrument cluster. The Nexon EV XZ variant has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Apart from this, multifunctional steering wheel, sunroof and automatic climate control have been given. Features like new Nexon dual airbags, EBD with ABS, reverse parking sensors and camera, seatbelt reminder and high speed alert are given.
