Banshidhar Bhagat elected state President of BJP Uttarakhand
Seven-time MLA Banshidhar Bhagat was crowned as the new state president of BJP. He was unanimously elected state president. 9th standard pass Bhagat is an MLA from Kaladhungi and in terms of political experience, he is counted among the heavyweight leaders of the party with many graduate and postgraduate leaders.
He has become the eighth state president of the party. On Thursday, central observer Arjun Ram Meghwal announced Bhagat to be elected state president. With the announcement of his name, party workers and Bhagat supporters celebrated with fireworks. They raised a lot of slogans in support of him.
Outgoing state president Ajay Bhatt placed Bhagat on the chair of the state president. On this occasion, Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat, Union Human Resource Development Minister Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, Organization General Minister Ajay Kumar, Cabinet Minister Subodh Uniyal and Minister of State Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat and many other senior leaders and activists wished the newly elected BJP state president of Uttarakhand. MPs Tirath Singh Rawat and Ajay Tamta did not reach in the meeting. Only two ministers of the government were present. Most of the contenders in the race for the state president were present in the meeting.
The election process was completed by State Election Officer Balwant Singh Bhauryal. Central observer Arjun Ram Meghwal said that the only nomination for the state president came from Bansidhar Bhagat. Two Provincial Council members from the five Lok Sabha proposed Bhagat’s name. He was unanimously elected state president. His name was announced before the party’s state officials, district heads and members of the provincial council. With this, the process of congratulating Bhagat started.

On Wednesday, activists in Kaladhungi assembly constituency expressed happiness over the announcement of MLA Bhagat being made state president and raised slogans in favor of MLA.
