IT department finds TDS anomalies

The Income Tax Department has found large-scale flaws in six institutions by conducting a TDS (Tax Deducted at Source) survey. Documents related to all these institutions have been confiscated. These institutions were not depositing TDS with deducting less than the prescribed limit.

The TDS wing of the Income Tax Department on Thursday surveyed TDS at six establishments, including the Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy (IGNFA). During this period, the Wing officials, while examining the documents, found that there are many wrongs in the way of deducting and depositing TDS.

On the instructions of Joint Commissioner Liaqat Ali, a TDS survey was conducted at companies based in Dehradun,Haridwar, Haldwani and Bajpur. During this time the TDS wing of the Income Tax Department saw the status of TDS deduction in the establishments. It found that the standards of TDS deduction in payments made in salary and other items were not being taken care of.

Apart from this, TDS has also been owed to these institutions for a long time. According to Joint Commissioner Liaqat Ali, all establishments have been directed to deduct TDS as per the standards and submit it on time. They have also been asked to pay dues. If even then the TDS irregularities are not corrected, then the bank accounts of all will be frozen.

TDS anomalies getting rampant in the state

TDS anomalies are getting rampant in the government and private establishments of the state. The Income Tax Department team has prepared a list of all such establishments. All these will be surveyed within the next two months.

Mistakes being caught due to heavy demand

In fact, the Income Tax Department is investigating the transactions in all government or private establishments. Under this, there are many such institutes, where demand is coming out on a large scale. They are getting caught by this demand.
