ICC Women’s T20: Australia crowned champion for 5th time

The final of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2020 was played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) between India and hosts Australia, in which Australia won. The Indian team lost the title by 85 runs.

In this match, Australian captain Meg Lanning won the toss and decided to bat first. In this way, Australia scored 184 runs in 4 overs losing 4 wickets. For the hosts, opener Beth Mooney scored an unbeaten 78, while wicketkeeper batsman Alyssa Healy was dismissed for 75 runs. Deepti Sharma got two wickets for India.

Chasing the target of 185 runs, the Indian team collapsed for 99 runs in 19.1 overs. Deepti Sharma scored the highest 33 runs for India, while Veda Krishnamurthy scored 19 runs and Richa Ghosh scored 18 runs. At the same time, Australian fast bowlers Megan Scutt 4, Jess Jonassen took 3 wickets, while Sophie Molyneux, Nicola Carey and Delissa Kimmince took 1-1 wickets.

Indian innings collapses on 99 runs

India received the eighth blow as Richa Ghosh, who scored 18 runs and was dismissed by Megan Scutt. Radha Yadav was dismissed as the 9th wicket, scoring 1 run and became the victim of Jess Jonassen. India’s tenth and last wicket came in the form of Poonam Yadav, who scored 1 run and was dismissed by Megan Scutt. This was the fifth time the Aussies Women’s team lifted the World T20 title.
