Jyotiraditya Scindia tenders resignation from Congress; 19 MLA’s follow suit

Jyotiraditya Scindia, who comes from the royal family of Madhya Pradesh, has tendered his resignation from Congress after being associated with the party for 18 years. Sided by Chief Minister Kamal Nath, Scindia resigned from Congress on Tuesday. Scindia himself has informed about his resignation by tweeting. After the resignation of Scindia, 19 Congress MLAs of his camp have also resigned.

These 19 MLAs also include five ministers, who have sent their resignations to the Speaker of Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly. These MLAs are in Karnataka and a picture has also been released from there. With these resignations, the script of Kamal Nath government’s departure has become final.

Earlier, Jyotiraditya Scindia resigned from the Congress. Congress has termed this decision of Scindia as a traitor.

Meeting with PM Modi before resigning

Before resigning, Scindia left his residence in Delhi early in the morning to meet Home Minister Amit Shah and after that he reached the residence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with Shah. Scindia’s meeting started at 10.45 am at PM’s residence.

There was a meeting between PM Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and Jyotiraditya Scindia for about an hour. After meeting PM Modi, Scindia came out after sitting in Amit Shah’s car. Earlier, Scindia drove from his residence to Amit Shah’s house by driving a car on his own, from where he reached PM’s residence on Lok Kalyan Marg in Amit Shah’s convoy. Jyotiraditya Scindia resigned from Congress membership only after meeting PM Modi.

Scindia can join BJP today. According to sources, BJP can send Jyotiraditya Scindia to the Rajya Sabha and thus he can be included in the Modi government after the Parliament session.

This means that the Congress’s Kamal Nath government in Madhya Pradesh is bound to fall. BJP sources say in this context that rebel MLAs of the Congress can send their resignations to the Speaker today itself. The number of such MLAs can be 20. That is, if this happens, the Kamal Nath government will come in a minority and after this, Shivraj Singh Chauhan can claim to form the government.

BJP called a meeting of the parliamentary board

As soon as Scindia tendered his resignation from the Congress, the BJP has started preparing to form the government. Today, along with the BJP Central Election Committee meeting, a meeting of the BJP Parliamentary Board has also been called. In this meeting, a green signal will be given to form a government under the leadership of Shivraj Singh Chauhan in Madhya Pradesh.

Madhya Pradesh Assembly arithmetic

Madhya Pradesh has 230 assembly seats. 2 MLAs have died. In this way, the current strength of the assembly has decreased to 228. The Congress has 114 MLAs. While the magic figure to form the government is 115. The Congress has the support of 4 Independents, 2 Bahujan Samaj Party and one Samajwadi Party MLA. In this way, the Congress has the support of 121 MLAs. While BJP has 107 MLAs which is likely to change once the rebel MLA’s join BJP.
