Canada witnesses deadliest mass shooting in last 30 years

On Sunday, atleast 13 people died in a mass shooting in Nova Scotia, Canada. This is the most gruesome firing incident in the country in the last 30 years. Officials said the firing suspect was also killed in the incident.

A police officer is also among those who died. Several bodies have been found inside and outside a house in Portapique. After this incident, the police asked people living in the houses to close their doors and stay in the basement due to the lockdown enforced due to the coronavirus.

Police have identified the man who fired the shot as 51-year-old Gabriel Wortman. He was living in Portapique part time. Officials said the shooter himself was dressed in a police-like dress and also made his car look like a Canadian police car.

Wortman was arrested at a gas station in the city, but was later declared dead by police. RCMP spokesman Daniel Bryan confirmed that 13 people died in the incident. At the same time, the shooter also died. He said that the number of dead could still increase. A police officer is also reported to have been killed in this firing incident which lasted for about 12 hours.
