CM Yogi speaks with Maharashtra counterpart over mob lynching of sadhu’s in Palghar

So far over 100 people have been detained in the mob lynching case of sadhus at Palghar in Maharashtra. Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has spoken to Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray. CM Yogi has demanded action against the culprits. On this, CM Uddhav said that the culprits will not be spared.

CM Yogi Adityanath wrote on his Twitter, ‘I spoke to the Chief Minister of Maharashtra Uddhav Thackeray last evening regarding the killing of Swami Kalpavriksha Giri Ji, Swami Sushil Giri Ji and his driver Nilesh Telgade Ji of Juna Arena in Palghar, Maharashtra. And requested for strict action against the responsible elements of the incident.’

 

Further, CM Yogi Adityanath wrote, ‘It was told by the Honorable Chief Minister of Maharashtra that some people have been arrested and the remaining will be identified and strict action will be taken against all of them.’

On the intervening night of 16-17 April, when people were locked in houses in lockdown, mob lynching occurred about 100 km from Palghar. Two sadhus, who were going from Mumbai to Surat in Gadchinchale village of Palghar, in their car were stopped and killed by the mob. The sadhus were from Hanuman temple in Jogeshwari, Mumbai.

Both sadhus were going from Mumbai to Surat for the funeral of their guru, but due to the lockdown, the police stopped them from going on the highway. Then the sadhus had to go through countryside in their car where they fell victim to mob lynching. According to the police, the monk and the driver fell victim to the rumor. The crowd stopped the vehicle of the sadhus over suspicion of organ harvesting.

The police also reached the spot immediately after receiving the news of the incident, but not one of the policemen walked in front of the crowd of 200 armed with sticks and other weapons. The mob also attacked police vehicles. Vehicles were overturned. So far 101 people have been detained in this case, while 10 people were arrested on the very next day of the incident.
