Dehradun placed in red zone district; restrictions relaxation unlikely after 20th

Dehradun district is unlikely to get an exemption from lockdown even after 20 April. The winter capital of Uttarakhand, Dehradun has been included in the Red Zone District due to the presence of 18 patients of Corona. Additional Secretary Health Yugal  Kishore Pant said on Wednesday that according to the guidelines issued by the Central Government, only those districts will get relief in lockdown after April 20 where no case of Corona has been reported so far or very few cases were found.

He said that in the case of Uttarakhand, Dehradun has the highest number of 18 cases, therefore the district is in the Red Zone category. Due to this, Dehradun district will not be given any relaxation in lockdown even after 20 April. Although the lockdown will remain in the entire state till May 3, but it will be strictly implemented in Dehradun district.

Additional Secretary Health has directed all the Chief Medical Officers to start psychiatric counseling services in relief camps for external laborers in the state. Apart from this, keeping in view the habit of tobacco consumption among the workers, it has also been decided to distribute Nicotex gum in the camps. Workers have been asked to state that tobacco intake may increase corona infection. In such a situation, its use is not good for both body and society.

Seven districts of Uttarakhand in Green Zone

No cases of corona have been reported in Bageshwar, Chamoli, Champawat, Pithoragarh, Rudraprayag, Tehri and Uttarkashi. As such, these districts have been kept in Green zone. After April 20, these districts will get many exemptions as per the guide line of the center. However, these districts will not get complete exemption in lock down.

Fewer than 17 cases in five districts of the state

Districts with one to 17 patients in Corona are placed in the second category. Five districts in Uttarakhand fall into this category. Almora, Haridwar, Nainital, Pauri Garhwal and US Nagar districts fall in this category. A slight relaxation can be found in the lockdown here.
