‘Will seize assets of vandalizing elements’ says UP CM

The protest against the citizenship law in Uttar Pradesh’s capital Lucknow has become fierce. The protesters have targeted public properties. After this, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath called an important meeting. After the meeting, Yogi Adityanath said that ‘violence cannot be allowed in the name of demonstration. We will take strong action against the unruly convicts. The assets of whoever is guilty of violence will be seized. This will compensate for the damage done in the violence.’

In Lucknow, protesters set two police posts on fire and also burnt vehicles parked outside. Police dispersed tear gas shells and lathi-charged to disperse the crowd. In Lucknow, miscreants also set the media’s OB van on fire.

UP CM Yogi Adityanath said, “anti-national forces are spreading violence on NRC issue. This includes Congress and other opposition parties. Vehicles have been burnt in Lucknow and Sambhal, which is unacceptable. I have urged people not to commit violence. Misinformation against the Citizenship Amendment Act will not be tolerated. People should know the truth of the law.”

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said,” we will deal with such violence strictly. Those who are involved in it will make up for the loss. Those who are involved in the violence have their faces captured in CCTV. Section 144 is applicable in the entire state. No protest will be held without permission. The protest cannot be violent. The common people should not be disturbed. The opposition is spreading rumors.”

Workers of Congress, Left parties demonstrated at Parivartan Chowk in Lucknow. Congress President Ajay Lallu and many other activists were taken into custody by the police. During the demonstration here, the police used sticks to control the crowd, in which many people were injured. Dozens of policemen were injured in the stone pelting with the SP traffic.

In Daliganj area, protesters pelted stones and ransacked in protest of citizenship law. Two police posts were also targeted during the protest. After Madayganj, protesters burnt the Satkhanda police post at Thakurganj. Vehicles parked outside the outpost were also burnt. There was also sabotage and arson in Khadra area and miscreants set fire to several vehicles here.
