Sensex closes strongly

On Wednesday, the second trading day of the week, the stock market closed on the upside after the day’s ups and downs. The Bombay Stock Exchange’s flagship index Sensex gained 3.25 percent to close at 9960.92 points at 31605.22 on May 27. At the same time, the National Stock Exchange’s Nifty rose 3.17 percent to close at 9314.95, up 285.90 points.

Situation of top shares

Talking about the big stocks, today ICICI Bank, Wipro, Bajaj Finance, Grasim, IndusInd Bank, HDFC Bank, UPL, Kotak Bank and BPCL closed on the green mark. UltraTech Cement, Sun Pharma, Zee Ltd, Titan, Asian Paints, Shree Cement, Maruti, Nestle India and Power Grid stocks closed at the red mark.

Rupee closed down by five paise against dollar

The rupee fell by five paise to close at 75.71 (provisional) on Wednesday against the US dollar. Investors are worried about increased tension between the US and China amid the Corona virus panidemic. According to foreign exchange traders, the rupee remained in a narrow range. The rupee strengthened due to the possibility of the Coronavirus vaccine and hopes of a pick-up in business activity. But the rise in tension between the US and China kept the pace at bay.

The strengthening of the dollar against other major currencies of the world also affected the rupee. The rupee opened at 75.72 in the interbank foreign exchange market. Later, it strengthened but finally it was down by five paise to close at 75.71 against Tuesday. The rupee had closed at 75.66 on Tuesday. During trading it went up to 75.57 in the high and 75.74 in the low.

Axis Bank shares climb

Today, Axis Bank’s stock saw the biggest rise. Following the news of global private equity firm Carlyle Group’s discussions on the issue of investing $ 1 billion (Rs 7600 crore) in Axis Bank, shares of Axis Bank have seen a sharp rise. It closed at 389.90 after gaining 14.24 per cent (48.60 points). Whereas in early trading it opened at the level of 346.10.

Sectoral index tracking

If we look at the sectoral index, today, apart from media and pharma, all sectors closed on the green mark. These include IT, Auto, Banks, Private Banks, Realty, Metal, FMCG and PSU Banks.

The stock market opened on the green mark in early trade. The Sensex saw a slight increase. It opened up 99.50 points at 30708.80, up 0.33 percent. At the same time, the Nifty opened up 52 points at 9081.05 with a gain of 0.58 percent.

The stock market closed on a slight decline on Tuesday, May 26 losing the day’s gains. The Sensex was down 63.29 points at 30609.30, down 0.21 percent. At the same time, the Nifty fell 0.11 percent to close at 9029.05, down 10.20 points.
