Uttarakhand records almost double rainfall in April

This time the weather is also bent on breaking records. In Uttarakhand, records of rain in April have been broken. The state has received almost double the rains than normal, while Dehradun-Mussoorie has received the maximum rainfall. Mercury is also running down due to rains at regular intervals. This April has been the coldest in the last five years.

Changes in weather patterns are creating new records. This time, Uttarakhand is receiving plenty rains. Intermittent rainfall pattern that was seen in March continued in April as well. Every second-third day, the weather changes sides and it causes rain and hail in the plains and snowfall in the the mountains. In Dehradun, where there was usually 75 mm of rainfall, 225 mm of rain was recorded this time, which is three times more than normal. Overall, the heat has not been felt in Uttarakhand yet.

There was also record rainfall in Doon in April 1997

Dehradun had earlier recorded 111.1 mm of rain in April 1997, which was a record till date, while this time it received 225 mm of rain. Apart from this, Nainital district had previously recorded a record 152.8 mm of rainfall in 1983. This time there was 169.4 mm of rain. Apart from this, 120 mm of rain was recorded in Udham Singh Nagar in 1971, which is equal to the recorded figure this year.

April 2020 was the coldest in five years

In the midst of rain and hail, mercury did not rise in Uttarakhand. Temperatures in most cities remained two to five degrees below the normal. Mercury could not touch 36 degrees Celsius throughout April in Dehradun. Not only this, temperature around 35 degree Celsius remained only for three consecutive days. The maximum temperature of Dehradun for 15 days in the month was five degrees below normal.
