Case filed against 22 institutions in relation to scholarship scam

The SIT, which became active after a long time due to the lockdown in Uttarakhand, has clamped down on 22 educational institutions involved in scholarship scam worth crores of rupees. The SIT has filed cases against these educational institutions in the capital Dehradun and Haridwar district on charges of manupulating scholarships.

It is alleged that 22 educational institutions in western Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand have siphoned off more than 10.88 crores in the name of scholarship. The SIT is now verifying the names and addresses of the students whose scholarship has been grabbed by showing fake admissions. After this, the statements of the students will be recorded. Also, information will be collected from students about their documents.

The SIT was slowing down for the past few months after investigating the much-talked about scholarship scam due to the lockdown. The impact of the lockdown was seen on the functioning of the SIT, the SIT has now been reactivated in Unlock-1.

In the social welfare department of Dehradun and Haridwar districts, a large-scale scam has come out in the scholarship of Scheduled Castes, Tribes and OBCs. The SIT investigating the scholarship scam in both the districts investigated the details of 22 private educational institutions in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh during the lockdown. On Sunday, on the instructions of SIT in-charge Manjunath TC, members gave 12 applications in Premanagar and Dalanwala police stations of Dehradun and police station Kankhal, SIIDCUL, Jhabrera, Bhagwanpur and Gangahar Kotwali of Haridwar after the investigation caught many discrepancies.
