Exams to be conducted by 30 September for final year/term students

There is a situation of lockdown in the country in view of the cases of corona virus has gravely impacted the education sector. All college and university campuses are closed. There was confusion about the mid-term or final exam among the students studying here. This has been clarified by the University Grants Commission (UGC) on Monday. New guidelines have been released regarding the final year / semester examinations and academic calendar of universities.

 

Human Resource Development Minister Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank released the Academic Guideline through a tweet. He clarified that according to the new guidelines of UGC, students of intermediate semester will be evaluated on the basis of internal assessment.

According to the new UGC guidelines, the evaluation of the students of the terminal semester which was to be done through the examinations in the month of July, will now be conducted by the end of September -2020. It is clear from this that the final examinations of the university will not be canceled.

Earlier it was being said that a committee of the UGC has also recommended the cancellation of the final year exam. Then it was also speculated that the final year results would be prepared on the basis of previous exam and internal assessment on the lines of other semesters / term. But now the UGC has made this situation clear.

No exams for intermediate students

Talking about the intermediate semester, according to the new guidelines of the UGC, the students of the intermediate semester will be evaluated on the basis of internal assessment. This means that they will be carried out without further examination.

Talking about final year or terminal semester exam, UGC has now cleared the entire situation. Now these exams can be done through online mode or offline mode or both, but these exams will not be canceled under any circumstances.

The UGC had earlier decided that university year final year examinations should be conducted. Students of the first year will be promoted in the second year. They will be given numbers on the basis of internal assessment.

According to the guidelines issued earlier by the UGC, it was also told that how universities and colleges will work once again. The colleges were expected to reopen from September for the new batch and students were to start getting admission from August.

In earlier guidelines, the UGC suggested colleges and universities to continue online education. Also said that if the situation improves, at least 25 percent syllabus should be covered online.

At the same time, DU has completed the preparation to book the online open exam. For this, the university has also been conducting mock tests for the last three days. In which all kinds of flaws are coming out. A large section of students is opposing this.

The new UGC guidelines also state that if a student is unable to appear for the exams for whatsoever reason, they would be given a chance to appear in special examination for such courses which would be conducted by the university as and when feasible. This feature will only be applicable for current academic session 2019-20 as one time measure.
