19 bills passed in one day Assembly session of Uttarakhand

A record 19 bills and 10 ordinances were passed in just three hours and six minutes during the monsoon session called for a day on Wednesday. Bills in the House are usually passed after a long discussion. But on Wednesday, there was not much gap between introducing, considering and passing the Bills in the House. During the monsoon session, the house could not function for two hours and nine minutes due to opposition uproar.

Vidhan Sabha Deputy Speaker Raghunath Singh Chauhan said that the scheduled business was completed during the House. Bills to be passed on Wednesday include Uttarakhand State Legislative Assembly Members Achievements and Pension Amendment Bill, Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Medical Education University Amendment Bill, Uttarakhand State Agricultural Produce and Livestock Marketing Promotion and Facilitation Bill, Epidemic Amendment Bill, Uttarakhand Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management Amendment Bill.

Uttarakhand Goods and Services Tax Amendment Bill, Uttarakhand Panchayati Raj Second Amendment Bill, Uttarakhand Uttar Pradesh State Legislature Officers’ Salary and Allowances Amendment Bill, Bonus Payment Uttarakhand Amendment Bill, Business Union Uttarakhand Amendment Bill, Industrial Disputes Uttarakhand Amendment Bill.

Uttarakhand Uttar Pradesh Industrial Disputes Act 1947 Amendment Bill, Factory Uttarakhand Amendment Bill, Uttarakhand Jaunsar Babar Zamindari Destruction and Land System Act 1956 Amendment Bill, Uttarakhand Uttar Pradesh Zamindari Destruction and Land Arrangement Act 1950 Amendment Bill, Uttarakhand State University Bill, Uttarakhand Technical University Amendment Bill included.

The one-day monsoon session of the assembly began today in the shadow of Corona. The opposition Congress created a ruckus in the assembly house to demand a discussion on Corona. The opposition alleged that more than 500 hundred have died due to corona in the state. Therefore the corona should be discussed. All the bills were passed in the House. The House was then adjourned sine die. The Congress delegation will meet Governor Baby Rani Maurya at 11 am on Thursday. During the session, the delegation will meet for not listening to the opposition.

Earlier, students were given entry into the House amidst tight security and Covid protocol. One by one the MLAs reached the House. Around 33 MLAs including Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat, Education Minister Arvind Pandey and Madan Kaushik arrived in the House. At the beginning of the assembly session, tributes were paid to former President Pranab Mukherjee and former MLA Brij Mohan Kotwal. After which the proceedings of the House started. After the adjournment, the house was resumed at 1 pm. The government passed all 19 bills in the assembly. The house was then adjourned till 3 pm.
