Hotels to remain closed in Nainital till 31 March

The hotel association of Nainital, the major tourist destination of Uttarakhand, has decided not to give place to tourists in hotels from 20 March. The hotel association has decided to shut down from March 20 till 31 March in view of the fear of an outbreak of Coronavirus.

Hotel Association President Dinesh Sah has issued orders to the members of the Hotel and Restaurant Association to refuse to take guests to hotels from 20 March tomorrow.

He has said that “taking cognizance of the present circumstances, I have decided that the members associated with the association will not give room to the tourists in their hotels from tomorrow i.e. March 20. The association will completely shut down hotels and restaurants.” “On March 31 the situation would be re-evaluated then a decision on reopening the hotels and restaurants will be taken”, Sah added.

He has also said that this order is mandatory for all hotels. He said that we should be united in this testing time which is the demand of time. Following this decree of the President, many members have praised his move. Members have said that the Speaker has taken the right step at the right time and it will show positive results in the coming time. Some members have even written that the administration should take strict steps to close non-member hotels.

Over 25 million jobs in tourism sector at stake due to Coronoavirus outbreak

The global economy has also been badly affected due to the corona virus which has been declared an epidemic by the World Health Organization. According to the United Nations, in the coming days, there is a danger of losing the jobs for over 25 million people worldwide due to this disease. The International Labor Organization of the United Nations has said in its report that this crisis can be reduced if coordination is established at the international level.

The impact of this crisis is expected to be most on the retail sector, which provides the most jobs. 11 million people can be employed in the retail sector. In addition, 1.2 million people in the tourism and hospitality sector may be unemployed. The ecommerce sector itself is facing a crisis of 2 million jobs. Apart from this, the real estate sector already facing recession may break down and there is a possibility of 35% jobs.

The International Labor Organization, in its report ‘COVID-19 and world of work: Impacts and responses’, said that rapid efforts are needed to reduce unemployment. The ILO said that three steps can be taken for this, which are – saving employees at the workplace, measures to protect the economy and employment and support for jobs and income.
