Season’s first snowfall in higher regions of Uttarakhand

The first snowfall of the season occurred on Wednesday night on several high peaks including Panchachuli, Hansling, Naganidhura, the high Himalayan region of Pithoragarh district in Uttarakhand. The temperature dropped after the snowfall.

After the first snowfall of the season, due to the cold winds in the morning, the temperature there was a slight chill in the weather. In Munsiyari, people have started wearing warm clothes to avoid cold in the evening. The higher peaks of Dharchula have also received snow.

On Thursday, the maximum temperature of Munsiyari was recorded at 19 degrees and minimum 12 degrees Celsius, while the maximum was recorded at 28 degrees and minimum 22 degrees Celsius on Wednesday. Pithoragarh received heavy rainfall on Wednesday night. On Thursday morning, the sky was covered by clouds.

Due to this snowfall, cold began in the entire area including Munsiyari. On Mansarovar Yatra route, there was snowfall ahead of Gunji in the early hours of Thursday.

Chance of rain in Pauri and Chamoli today

Kumaon region is likely to receive rain and hail. There is also possibility of lightning in isolated areas of the state. There are chances of rains in Pauri and Chamoli. The weather will be dry on September 27-28. According to the Meteorological Department, light rain may occur at some places in Nainital, Champawat, Pithoragarh, Bageshwar on September 25-26.
