Tourist activities resume gradually in Uttarakhand

Tourist activities have been allowed in a phase wise manner in Uttarakhand after the lockdown. Tourism is a major source of income for the hill state and many people are dependent on tourism related activities for their livelihood.

The wait for adventure sports enthusiasts is over now. On Saturday, colorful rafts were seen floating in the Ganges. By noon more than 200 tourists had gone rafting.

River rafting has got the green signal from the government. The government has ordered the concerned District Magistrate to follow the guidelines of Covid-19 for this.

The tourism business is expected to be back on track after the adventure activities in the Ganga begin. Rafting in the Ganges has been closed since last March due to Covid-19, which upset the raft operators. Rafting was closed from July 01 to August 31 due to the rise in the water level of the river.

Rafting used to start again after the river’s water level decreased from 01 September, but due to the corona, rafting did not start this time.

Chairman of Ganga Rafting Rotation Committee Dinesh Bhatt said that after a long struggle, the government has given the green signal to conduct rafting on Friday, but the government has assigned the responsibility to the DM of the district concerned. Further activities will start on the orders of the District Magistrate.
