Night curfew to be imposed in Ahmedabad as Corona cases rise
The Gujarat government decided on Thursday that there would be a daily curfew in Ahmedabad city from 9 pm to 6 am from November 20, due to increased Corona infection. This measure will continue until the corona situation in Gujarat improves. People have been advised not to leave the house unnecessarily, but the government is on the target of the Congress on its decision to open a school-college. After Diwali and New Year festivals, corona infection has increased rapidly in Gujarat. Curfew has been implemented in Ahmedabad from 9 pm to six in the morning. People have been instructed not to stand in groups and not to leave the house unless very important.
Additional Chief Secretary Dr. Rajiv Gupta informed that on the instructions of Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, the night curfew in Ahmedabad will continue from November 20 till further notice. Dr. Gupta informed that 900 additional beds have been provided at the Special Covid-19 Hospital in Ahmedabad. Additional 300 medical professionals and 300 medical students have been deployed in government hospitals. The government has also opened additional ambulance and investigation centers.
Education Minister Bhupendra Singh came on target of opposition by backing the announcement of opening of school colleges in the state from 23 November. Former Congress president Arjun Modhwadia said that on one hand the government is imposing curfew, on the other hand, it is adamant on its decision to open the schools. “There are no big rooms in the schools, neither the sports ground nor adequate transport facilities, then why send parents to school in times of pandemic”.
Welcoming the curfew, Dr. Mona Desai, President of the Ahmedabad Medical Association, said that this would help in overcoming the corona infection. People are not keeping physical distance and are also negligent in applying mask.
1370 new cases of corona and seven deaths in Gujarat
The number of corona infections in Gujarat has been one lakh 92 thousand 882. Out of these, one lakh 76475 have reached home after recovery. In the last twenty-four hours, 1370 new cases of corona infection were reported in the state, while seven more people died of corona. So far, 3830 people have died in the state from Corona. There are 12677 active cases of corona in the state, of which 87 are on ventilator. Ahmedabad has the highest number of 46268 cases, while the death toll has reached 1953. In Surat, the number of corona infected is 40629 and the death toll is 878, while in Vadodara there have been 18208 cases of corona infection while the death toll is 216.
