Government allows private schools to collect full fees for board classes

Schools will now be able to take full fees from students studying in 10th and 12th classes in the state. This fee will be charged from the date of opening of the school. In view of online studies in other classes earlier, only tuition fee system was applicable. Education Secretary R Meenakshi Sundaram issued orders in this regard on Friday. The government has made this arrangement in view of the order of the High Court. This has particularly fulfilled the wish of private schools.
However this order will also apply to government schools. The High Court, while hearing a petition filed on behalf of Red Rose Convent School and others, directed the government to dispose off the receipts received in this regard. The government has decided that schools running 10th and 12th classes will be able to charge the full fee. This fee will be charged from the date of conducting the classes. The schools have been given permission to conduct these classes since last November. It has been clarified in the mandate that before the lockdown period only tuition fees will be deposited from the students. On the request of parents, the school itself will take a positive decision regarding depositing the fees in installments. The government has earlier abolished the remaining restrictions of the mandates issued on June 22 and 24 with immediate effect. This move of the government has especially fulfilled the wishes of private and English medium schools.
