Government planning to resume offline classes for classes six and above

Seeing the process of vaccination in Uttarakhand and the rate of corona infection decreasing, the government started preparing to open all the classes above fifth. It will start from the ninth and eleventh standard. While classes from sixth to eighth are planned to open from February 1. Education Minister Arvind Pandey has directed Education Director RK Kunwar to prepare a proposal to open the school. Regarding opening of the school, the education minister said that a final decision will be taken in the cabinet.

Before this a departmental proposal is being taken. Officers have been asked to include parents’ opinion in the proposal. The decision to open the school will be as per the opinion of the parents. The state schools have opened from November 2 last year after the lockdown of seven months. In the first phase, only students of classes 10 and 12 are allowed to attend schools. Only those students can come to the school, whose parents will approve their wards attending offline classes.

Education Secretary R. Meenakshi Sundaram has directed the education director and all nodal officers to take extra vigilance on the system. All educational institutions in the state were completely closed from 14 March upon the onset of the Corona transmission. The first phase of school opening is going to start from Monday after 231 days of closure. The Education Secretary informed that a detailed SOP has been issued for the operation of the school. The Principal of every school has been made the nodal officer.

Nodal officers will be responsible for following the standards set for prevention of corona infection. The school format is also going to change completely due to the Corona pandemic. Many new standards have been implemented, which have never been considered before. Prayer meetings in the morning in the school grounds will not take place. Students can pray in the morning only in the classroom. In addition, all types of cultural and sports activities will also be banned.

On receipt of complaints of cold, cough, cold and fever, the concerned employee or the student will be returned from the school. If any Corona positive case in the school immediately comes to light then information has to given to the Department of Education and Health. Action will be taken if the SOP is violated.

Private schools are also lobbying to open all classes above the fifth. The government should allow the school to open, strictly following the SOP set for the Corona transition.
