Passengers stranded as roadways employees go on strike

Roadways employees in Uttarakhand have started a strike today on Wednesday. Passengers have been stranded throughout the state due to the workers going on strike. Due to the strike, the passengers of the most mountainous areas are facing problems. The strike has been going on in Uttarakhand Roadways Employees Union for five days in Dehradun division over the seven-point demand including payment of salaries. Now all the divisions of roadways have also started a strike, causing problems for the passengers.

The agitated employees say that a memorandum has been submitted to the management several times for disposal of demands, but no action has been taken to settle the demands. Outraged employees have expressed concern that they have not received salary for the last five months, so running a house has become very difficult. Angry employees are boycotting work and slogans are also being raised against the management by the personnel at the divisional level. Employees have warned that the agitation will continue till their demands are resolved.

On the other hand, members associated with Uttaranchal Roadways Employees Union in Haldwani, after working at the Kathgodam depot, made a symbolic demonstration at the depot premises. Employees have been raising their demands for the past several days. On the other hand, the roadways management is saying that the work is not affected due to the strike. On Wednesday, union members gathered at the depot premises from 6 am in the morning on 12 demands including ACP, duty rest, equal work equal pay and raised their protest by raising slogans against the corporation management.
