Sensex closes above 50000 for the first time

Domestic stock markets closed at new record highs amid strong buying and positive global cues in almost all sectors. The 30-share sensitive index Sensex of the BSE closed at a level of 50,255.75, a gain of 458.03 points, or 0.92 per cent. On the other hand, NSE Nifty closed at the level of 14,790 points with a gain of 142.10 points i.e. 0.97 percent. All sectoral indices except the FMCG closed with a green mark. At the same time, PSU Bank and Pharma Index closed with a rise of two percent.

IndusInd Bank shares were the biggest gainers on BSE Sensex. Apart from this, the prices of PowerGrid, Doctor Reddy’s, Sun Pharma and NTPC also saw a huge jump. Apart from these, Tech Mahindra, Axis Bank, Titan, Mahindra & Mahindra, Bharti Airtel, HDFC, Bajaj Finance, Infosys, Bajaj Auto, Bajaj Finjerv, HCL Tech, ONGC, SBI, HDFC Bank, Larsen & Toubro, ICICI Bank, Hindustan Unilever Limited And Reliance shares closed with a green mark.

On the other hand, ITC and Maruti shares saw the biggest decline. Apart from these, shares of UltraTech Cement, Asian Paint, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Nestle India and TCS closed with a red mark.

Talking about other Asian markets, the stock markets closed with gains in Hong Kong, Seoul and Tokyo. At the same time, the stock exchange in Shanghai closed with a red mark. In early trade in Europe, the stock markets saw an increase.

Meanwhile, global oil benchmark Brent crude was trading up 0.36 percent at $ 58.01 a barrel.
