India defeat England to clinch T20I series 3-2
The last match of the five-match T20 series between India and England was played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. England captain Eoin Morgan won the toss and decided to bowl first in the series decider. India scored 224 runs at the loss of 2 wickets in 20 overs on the basis of half-centuries from Rohit Sharma and captain Virat Kohli. In response, England team could manage 188 runs for 8 wickets. India won the series by 36 runs and won the series 3–2.
Malan and Butler’s half-century went in vain
The first blow to England was given by Bhuvneshwar Kumar and he gave a clean bold to Jason Roy without opening his account. Bhuvneshwar Kumar broke the dangerous partnership of Devin Malan and Jose Butler and got Butler caught out by Hardik Pandya. Butler scored 52 runs with the help of 4 sixes and 2 fours. Bairstow was dismissed by Shardul Thakur for 7 runs.
Shardul Thakur dismissed David Malan for 68 and gave England the fourth blow. This was followed by Ben Stokes, Joffra Archer and finally Chris Jordan going back to pavillion. For India, Shardul Thakur took three wickets while Bhuvneshwar Kumar took 2 wickets. Hardik Pandya and T Natarajan took one wicket each.
Rohit-Virat score big in the decider
In the last T20 match against England, captain Virat Kohli along with Rohit Sharma came to start the innings. The two gave a strong start for India and scored 60 runs in the Powerplay. After this, Rohit completed his half-century with the help of 3 fours and 4 sixes in 32 balls. He was bowled by Ben Stokes for 64 runs with the help of 4 fours and 5 sixes off 34 balls.
India completed their 100 runs in just 9.4 overs. Suryakumar Yadav who came in at 3, played a brilliant innings of 32 off 17 balls not letting the momentum subside. He was out caught by the brilliance of Chris Jordan at the boundary. The captain completed his 28th T20 half-century with the help of 2 fours and 2 sixes off 36 balls.
