Nifty, Sensex see strong gain after Holi

Despite rising cases of Covid-19 in the country, the domestic stock market closed with a strong lead. Domestic stock markets closed for the second consecutive session due to buying by IT, FMCG, metal and pharma companies. The 30-share sensitive index Sensex of the BSE closed at the level of 50,136.58 with a increase of 1,128.08 points, or 2.30%. Similarly, NSE Nifty closed at the level of 14,845.10 points with a gain of 337.80 points, or 2.33 percent.

The shares of UPL, JSW Steel, HDFC Bank, Tata Steel and HCL Technologies were the biggest gainers on NSE Nifty. At the same time, shares of Axis Bank, Mahindra & Mahindra, Hindalco Industries, Bharti Airtel and SBI Life Insurance closed with a red mark.

Talking about sectoral index, IT, FMCG, metal and pharma indicators closed with a rise of 2-3 per cent on the Nifty.

These stocks rose on the Sensex

On BSE Sensex, HCL Tech shares saw the highest jump of 3.91%. Similarly, shares of HDFC Bank, Infosys, NTPC, Nestle India, TCS, Hindustan Unilever Limited, Powergrid, HDFC, Titan, Asian Paints and Doc Reddy’s closed with a surge.

Shares of Tech Mahindra, ICICI Bank, Larsen & Toubro, Sun Pharma, ITC, Reliance, Bajaj Auto, ONGC, Maruti, IndusInd Bank, SBI, Ultratech Cement, Bajaj Finzerv, Kotak Mahindra Bank and Bajaj Finance closed also closed in the green.

These stocks closed with a fall

On the other hand, shares of Mahindra & Mahindra, Bharti Airtel and Axis Bank closed with a red mark.
