Netflix hikes subscription plan rates in US & Canada

Netflix subscription plans have become expensive in some countries. While the streaming giant recently slashed the rates for its monthly and yearly plans in India, the company has increased the rates in the United States and Canada. The company announced that the monthly subscription prices in the US will increase from $1 (Rs 74) to $2 ($148) in the US, depending on the plan. Meanwhile, to attract new customers, Netflix has cut the prices of its subscription plans in India. Currently, monthly plan starts at Rs 149 in India.

Prices of Netflix plans increased in America

The Basic plan in the US, which allows only one screen at a time, costs $9.99 (Rs 741). The price of the standard plan has been increased from $14 (Rs 1,039) to $15.50 (Rs 1,150) per month. The standard plan allows viewing two screens at a time. The price of the 4K plan will increase from $18 (Rs 1,336) to $20 (Rs 1,484) per month. This plan allows four screens at a time. The price of the basic plan has also been increased by 1 dollar (Rs 74).

Prices increased in Canada too

Netflix had also increased the prices of its subscription plans in Canada. The standard plan has been increased from C$14.99 (Rs 889) to C$16.49 (Rs 978) in Canada. The premium plan has been increased from C$2 (Rs 118) to C$20.99 (Rs 1245). Although Netflix has not increased the price of the basic plan.

Price of plans not increased in India

In India, the price of Netflix mobile plan has been reduced from Rs 199 to Rs 149, the mobile plan lets users stream videos on phones and tablets at 480p. The price of the basic plan was Rs 499, which was reduced to Rs 199. Now talking about the premium plan, the price of this plan was Rs 799 earlier, now its cost is Rs 649. The premium plan lets users browse videos in 4K+HDR. The premium plan allows users to watch four different devices at the same time with this plan.
