Oscars 2024: Oppenheimer wins 7 Oscars; Cillian best actor, Nolan best director

The 96th Oscar Awards have been announced today (March 11) at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles. Oppenheimer won a total of seven awards at the ceremony, including Best Film. Cillian Murphy was awarded the best actor while Christopher Nolan was named the best director.

Robert Downey Jr. received the Best Supporting Actor award for this film. This is the first Oscar of his career.

Oppenheimer has also won awards in the Best Film Editing, Best Original Score and Best Cinematography categories. The film was nominated in a total of 13 categories.

Poor Things won four Oscars

The film Poor Things won Oscars in four categories. The film’s lead actress Emma Stone received the Best Actress Award. This is Emma’s second Oscar award. Earlier in 2016, she had won the Best Actress Award for the film La La Land.

Apart from Best Actress, Poor Things also received Oscars in the Best Costume Design, Production Design and Makeup and Hairstyling categories.

Barbie wins one Oscar

The film Barbie received also won an Oscar. Its song What Was I Made For? by Billie Eilish and Finneas O’Connell won the Oscar for Best Original Song. The film received nominations in 8 categories.
