Center-State government to collaborate on irrigating farms

To increase the production of crops, it is necessary to supply water for irrigation to the fields. Presently, in 71 of the 95 development blocks of the state, farming is dependent on rains. That is, if it rains on time, it is fine otherwise drought conditions arise without water. The condition of irrigation facility is that only 45 thousand hectare of irrigation facility has been made available in the hilly terrain. In view of all this, both the central and state governments have focused on increasing irrigation facilities so that farmers’ income can be doubled due to increase in crop production. Efforts in this direction have also been intensified. In the near future, 8.82 lakh farmers of the state will be able to have access to water for irrigation.

To increase agricultural productivity, the Central Government has launched the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana (PMKSY). Under the schemes to be selected under this, the central government will provide 90 percent help, while 10 percent will be the share of the state. The state government has proposed several schemes in this scheme, which will soon hit the ground.

According to the Economic Survey 2020-21, the main goal of this scheme is to achieve convergence of investment in irrigation. Besides, it is also the objective of the scheme to develop arable area under assured irrigation, improve the method of irrigation in the field and reduce water wastage. Apart from this, special attention is being given to construction of tanks, ponds, check dam structures, sprinklers and drip irrigation for water harvesting. During the current financial year itself, works are being done under the scheme at a cost of 6.66 crores.

Water for every farm

Renovation, renovation, rain water conservation, strengthening of water distribution system, enhancement of water management, development of underground and surface water sources through minor irrigation for development of irrigation resources, microirrigation to at least 10 percent area of ​​the command area. Steps like bringing under irrigation are being taken. It is the effort of the government that efforts should be made to provide water to every field under this scheme.
