Uttarakhand state board exams canceled for class X; postponed for class XII

On the lines of CBSE and other boards of the country, the Government of Uttarakhand has also decided to postpone the exams of class 12 while canceling the examination of class 10. This information has been tweeted by Education Minister Arvind Pandey this morning. He said that in order to safeguard and protect the students in view of the corona pandemic in the state, it has been decided to cancel the Class 10 board examinations of the Uttarakhand Vidyalaya Shiksha Parishad and postpone the Class 12 examinations. The minister said that, further decisions will be taken only in view of the health and bright future of the students.

 

Board examinations in Uttarakhand were to start from May 4 this time and continue till May 22. There were 148355 high school exams and 122184 candidates in inter scheduled to appear for Uttarakhand state board exams. The board exam was also expected to be canceled due to the increased risk of corona infection. On Sunday morning, the Education Minister has given a statement about the examinations on his Facebook and Twitter page. Through Facebook, he said that it has been decided to cancel the board examination of class 10 and postpone the examination of class 12 for the safety and protection of the candidates in view of the Corana pandemic. It has been decided to postpone the board examination which starts from May 2.

The Education Department was asked to clarify its stand on Uttarakhand Board’s decision regarding high school and inter examinations in view of the rising outbreak of Corona in Uttarakhand. Chief Secretary Om Prakash said that a decision will be taken further on receiving the proposal of the Education Department. Due to increasing corona infection, all boards including CBSE and  ICSE have postponed their examinations. The board examinations were proposed from May 4 to May 22 in Uttarakhand. In the past, Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat had also instructed the School Education and Higher Education Department to take necessary steps including postponing the examinations in view of the Corona crisis. At the same time this morning, Education Minister Arvind Pandey tweeted and informed about canceling the examination of 10th and postpone the examination of 12th.
