Kedarnath portals reopened for summer season as per rituals

Portals of Kedarnath temple have been opened at five in the morning today as per vedic rituals. The process of opening the doors had started at three o’clock in the morning. Rawal Bhimashankar and Chief Priest Bagesh Linga and Additional Chief Executive Officer of Devasthanam Board, B.D. Singh and District Magistrate Rudraprayag Manuj Goyal entered the temple main courtyard from the east gate and the doors of the Lord Kedarnath temple were opened at exactly five o’clock after the chanting of prayers at the main gate. The first Rudrabhishek Puja was done in the name of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Kedarnath Dham and public welfare was wished.

In view of the Corona epidemic, the Chardham Yatra is temporarily suspended. Presently, devotees are not allowed to come. At the time of opening the doors of Kedarnath, only few people associated with Kedarnath were present. The weather in Dham is cold, snow is present at some distance from the temple.

Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat has expressed happiness over the opening of the doors of Kedarnath temple. He said that due to the corona pandemic, the Chardham is temporarily suspended, everyone should visit the world and offer prayers in their homes.

Tourism Minister Satpal Maharaj has said that as soon as the corona pandemic will end,  the Chardham Yatra will resume. On the initiative of Tourism Minister Satpal Maharaj, the first puja is being conducted in all the dhams in the name of Prime Minister Narendra Modi with a sense of public welfare.

Corona prevention standards were followed during the opening of the temple doors. Masks, sanitizers, thermal screening were made mandatory. The third Kedar Tungnath will be opening in the afternoon, while the fourth Kedar Rudranath’s portals are also opening today. The doors of the second Kedar Madamaheshwar are opening on 24 May. While the date of opening of the doors of Gurudwara Sri Hemkund Sahib and Shri Laxman Temple is not fixed yet.
