Portals of Chardham to be closed on Lunar eclipse

Due to the lunar eclipse from Friday night, the portals of all the temples, including Chardham in Devbhoomi Uttarakhand, will be closed at two o’clock in the afternoon. After cleaning and purification on Saturday morning the temples will be opened to the devotees.
The longest lunar eclipse of the century will start on Friday night at 11.54 pm and will remain till 3.49 pm. But, eclipse will start from Friday at two o’clock. For this, the portals of all the temples including Chardham Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri will be closed after two o’clock. MP Jamloki, executive officer of Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee said that on Saturday morning, the temple’s portal will be opened after the Havan-Yajna with cleanliness and purification of the temple. Only then will the devotees be able to worship the devotees.
