Government fixes vaccine rate charged by private entities

The Central Government has fixed the maximum rates of Coronavirus Vaccine for private hospitals. The cost of Covishield will be Rs 780 (cost of 600 vaccine + 5% GST + service charge of Rs 150) per dose. The cost of Covaccine will be Rs 1410 (Rs 1200 price + Rs 60 GST + Rs 150 service charge) per dose. Sputnik-V will cost Rs 1145 per dose (Rs 948 Vaccine + Rs 47 GST + Rs 150 Service Charge) for private hospitals.

Along with setting the rate of the vaccine, it will be monitored everyday. Strict action will be taken against the private Covid Vaccination Center for charging higher rates. The Center has asked the states to monitor private hospitals so that they do not take more than Rs 150 for the service charge.

While fixing the maximum rate of vaccine, the Ministry of Health of the Central Government has sent a memorandum to all the states and union territories regarding this.

NITI Aayog member Dr VK Paul said today that some states had asked last month that the vaccines should be procured by the Centre. He said that orders for 25 crore doses of Covishield and 19 crore doses of Covaxin have been ordered. This advance order has been placed, for which 30 percent payment will be given in advance. The central government has placed an advance order for a total of 74 crore vaccine doses. Dr VK Paul said that the e-biological vaccine is expected to be available in September, for which an order of 30 crore doses has been placed.

Health Ministry official Luv Aggarwal said that all the information is available in the website of the Ministry of Health. Clinical management is involved. After a detailed discussion, the guideline is issued which is at the guideline analysis stage on the site of DGHS. The final guideline will be posted on the ministry’s site.
